Reblog if you were the kid in class who didn’t stand for The Pledge of Allegiance.
I stood but didn’t put my hand on my heart or recite it.
I tried, and I got in a ton of trouble. I’d just learned stuff that gave me my very first bout of “Wow, American history is full of white people being AWFUL.” And no one would explain to me why it was so important for me to stand and recite the pledge. I was just told, “It’s something you’re supposed to do, so do it.”
Fun fact: The U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling in 1943 that says it is illegal to force someone (incl students) to recite or participate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
If someone tries to force you to recite, stand for, put your hand over your heart, or participate in ANY way in the Pledge, you can refuse. If they say that you will get in trouble, tell them to take it up with the Supreme Court. You can’t be given detention, you cannot be expelled, you cannot be given extra homework, you cannot be suspended. You have the right to say no.
^^ I wish I was told this
A peony root when standing, a tree peony when sitting, a lily when walking.

youd think by the ideas of punk, just by the whole concept of it… that the whole thing would be for lgbt ppl and poc… but instead its a buncha cishet white boys thinking theyre oppressed for listening to rock music
Omanyte get out of there!
I don’t even care that I already reblogged this because seriously, how is this not a masterpiece painting hanging in the Smithsonian? Everything about this photo just says Romanticism to me
